Working with FTD was a fantastic (and very different) experience. As an emerging leader in the worlds of ultrapure water and semiconductor fabrication, FTD was looking to convey the incredible work their rapidly growing company is doing.

Effective, professional communication is at the center of everything FTD does. Without it, million-dollar projects could go awry. For this project, we designed various brochures, project proposals, reports, and pitch decks alongside a full icon set to clearly and effectively communicate the value FTD provides to clients.

web development

A 3-year-old company with a 3-year-old website. It was time for both a change and expansion to the existing FTD website. We were tasked with coming up with a site map and building the foundational piece of FTD from scratch. Expanding on the initial design led to the introduction of a blog to help spread and showcase their world-leading expertise.

marketing strategy

Great content requires a great strategy to share it. We developed a simple approach to SEO and social media marketing to help FTD grow its reach, credibility, and potential client base.

Challenges and Details

This was a different project than that which I was accustomed to. This project entailed developing various infographics and presentations, coming up with a new project proposal and reporting template, a full icon set, and coordinating meetings with all employees to build out an extensive website filled with the various projects FTD had completed.

 

Graphics

With a need for extensive detail in communication, there was an evident problem in developing graphics. Several infographic brochures had a 2-page limitation. This presented the challenge of fitting all the necessary content onto a page and making it both graphically interesting and appealing. As much of their work is done under confidentiality agreements, many images and details simply could not be shared. We later developed a full icon set to allow more graphic interest in the various necessary graphics and presentations.

Web Development

FTD was previously utilizing a 3-year-old website with little to no SEO optimization. For their new site, FTD wanted to build out a blog and have an extensive library of their various projects to showcase expertise. To start the project, an exhaustive site map was first made, ensuring that all necessary and relevant information was covered. We then began building from the back to the front- building the least important pages to ensure a look that was as visually appealing as it is communicatively effective. This approach allowed the most time and space to ensure cohesion and good design language before building the most important and visible pages. The website has been very successful, being used as a tool during meetings with current and prospective clients to reference different FTD products, services, or areas of expertise.

Marketing Strategy

Operating in a very small niche within the B2B world, FTD cannot utilize the same marketing and social media strategies as many other companies. To better market FTD, we asked them the questions: what are you hoping to gain? What are you hoping to convey?

The answer to these questions led us to take an approach of growing the credibility of FTD’s expertise, communicate their capability to take on some of the biggest contracts, and expand the awareness of them in the ultrapure water and semiconductor manufacturing fields respectively. To do this, we developed a strategy for blog development, posting, SEO, and LinkedIn. Through this, we made SEO simple as they are consistently posting new blogs utilizing a template we designed. All of this has led to better communication of FTD’s world-leading expertise to potential clients and expanding their reach.

outcome

As result of this work, FTD has been able to more effectively communicate its value to potential clients. Site traffic and LinkedIn followers have increased and they have secured multiple large contracts since the development and usage of these content pieces and strategies.
